Its a New Day!

Since I have five thousand ideas for blog entries I thought I would start organizing them by just digging in and starting at the beginning.

For the New Year I want to try a couple of new things. A photographer friend of mine, Noel Hannon, recently completed a project called Project 52, and even created a book by the same name! His project has been inspiring me for quite a while now and I've decided to try something around the same lines. I plan on spotlighting a person I know, someone amazing and wonderful, every week on my blog. I am a story teller and I want to tell you stories about some of the fantastic people I know. PS everyone I know is fantastic, trust me, I'll show you. I'm super excited to embrace this project, and I hope you all love it too.

Next on the agenda will be a weekly post of one of the shoots done that week, whether a job or self inspired project. Not only will I get to share what I'm doing but I'll also have the motivation I need to be out shooting all the time.

Lastly, I have decided, with much personal struggle, to start a second blog. It is completely different and separate from this blog. It's not about photography, but about me, my heart and about life. My hope is that it will serve as a place one can go to be encouraged, spurred on, and maybe feel like they are not alone in the daily craziness we call life. It is called Son Flare and you will find it here.

I had a great year last year and have met some great people because of my photography and I can't tell you how excited I am for 2011!

I wish the best to you all!

I just can't have a blog entry without a picture.

I just love this image of Amanda, so natural and beautiful.

  1. Kelley, I am looking forward to your photography this year already! And suffice to say that you have influenc me in much the same way, I have enjoyed all your posts of the last year very much. Thank you for the mention, you could have knocked me down with a feather when I read it!

Like yourself, one of the things I will be endeavouring to achieve is a regular and consistent shooting schedule and of course blogging about it.

Your idea of writing about a special person every week is fantastic. And I am sure it would make a great book. Love the hoot of Amanda, great shot,

    Slainte,
    Noel

  2. Kelley, please forgive the spelling in the comment above..., my only excuse is that being Irish, English is my second language...

  3. Noel, Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks, of course for your hard work, I'm sure you have inspired more than just me. We can spur each other on this year with our photography.

Never worry about the spelling, half the time I am so blind that I struggle just to read the screen. Hee hee I really have to fight the urge to make my blog font on the extra large font.

Again, thanks for the kind words also and for the visit!

  5. Thanks David for stopping by! I'm excited for the New Year for sure! Always nice to hear from you!!

What are your plans for the year?

  6. At a very basic level, my plan for this year Kelley is to take more photographs than last year. Sounds a rather Homer-esque plan but as much as I love photography I gotta admit that with all my other commitments (work, voluntary work - charity & otherwise) I've little free time to pursue it. I have made a personal pledge though that when I've finished with my counselling my current clients I will take a break for a couple of months. This will give me back 2 evenings a week to get a chance to do some photography stuff - I'd like to try some macro / still life stuff as I can do that indoors ;-)

One 'wish' (not a plan I stress) for this year would be to create a blog / website, but I'd need to be sure I could put time aside to regularly maintain it which of course brings me back to the commitments above again ;-)

    Take care,

    David

  7. It sounds wonderful! The "other" commitments you have are so very important! I would love to see your work on a blog or site. Though I know life is short, there is room to fill our lives with much, just not always at the same time.

I hope we'll keep in touch this year so I can stalk your progress. LOL, don't be afraid, that was a joke.

All the best in all you do!
